I am SO thankful the weather pulled through for this session with these two cuties, Laura & Joesph! We planned for an early morning session due to the time of year, the French Quarter can get SO crowded depending on the time of year. We lucked out with not many people in the Quarter however the weather seemed bleak at first, we woke up to misting rain and super dense fog, it was like a scene out of The Mist, which if you’ve never seen that move you totally should! Such a good movie if you like thrillers like Daniel & I! Luckily towards the end of their engagement session the fog dissipated a bit for us, and the misting rain came to a stop! With weather like those conditions we obviously thought about re-scheduling, but these two aren’t local and they had a flight home THAT afternoon, so we had to make due! Shooting in the fog is an interesting experience, and as a photographer you have to be willing to try new things in order to work with the fog, instead of against it. With super dense fog, misty rain, and dark skies above us it was HARD to find any glow for my couple, however I think we did pretty good! Our couples we work with love our style of glowy, natural lite portraits so even on the gloomiest of days it was really important for me to find that glow for our sweet couple, which essentially meant creating a glow from nothing, but hey we did it!
Laura & Joesph were such troopers during their session, even despite the weather they were down for anything and excited to take some portraits in one of their favorite cities! Despite the weather, early morning, and everything else these two totally CRUSHED their session! Within minutes they were total pros at our four core poses and were nailing every picture! I had a blast with them both as we strolled the streets of the French Quarter, it was almost desolate due to the weather, but so nice to basically have the Quarter to ourselves! Joesph used to live locally, so we chatted about schools we each went to and about how he now shares his love of the city with Laura! As you scroll through this blog I hope you enjoy this sweet couple as much as we did! Laura & Joesph, congratulations once again! We had a blast with you both and we hope you love your portraits & that they remind you of all your special memories in NOLA!
